The foundations Fairtrees Estate 19
Here are the foundations cut and ready for the concrete , the ybar has been placed and we are ready for concrete .The team is finishing off tying the ybar and putting it in place.
Once the foundations where done we kept them moist for the next few days so that the concrete had time to cure and give us the best possible strength. Sarah was very excited to get going as she will now have a home in a few months time.
The Beginning of our Home
This is a pic of our surface bed a week later. We built up the footing wall , poured concrete into the cavity. We then filled up the surface bed with a clean compactable sand , using a wacker and compactor to get the surface as compact as possible. Once that is all done we get the engineer to do a compaction test.

Building Homes
We are currently building two homes , one is for an Architect Adrian Weyer from Van Der Wolf Weyer Architects in Durbanville and the other is our own. Our last completed house was handed over on the 28th Feb 08 . I will load up some images of the building stages and of the progress.
All three of these have been in Fairtrees Estate in Durbanville. Building in one estate has it advantages with numerous things, your labour cost , suppliers delivering to one address, ease of over seeing sites, moving labour around, having your main subbies around .
Both these homes will be completed by mid June 08, join me and watch the progress.
